






Union Minister for Health, Dr. Thet Khaing Win, participated as a member of the high-level Myanmar delegation attending the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, held in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, from June 18 to 21.
On the morning of June 18, Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the Drug Security Forum organized by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. At the forum, Professor Dr. Ye Myint, Director General of the Food and Drug Administration Department, participated as a speaker and discussed issues concerning the uninterrupted and sufficient availability of essential medicines.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the countries, ongoing drug registration processes in Myanmar, and the current importation of pharmaceutical products from Russia. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and delegation met with officials from Rosatom, a Russian state corporation, in St. Petersburg. Both sides discussed areas in which Russia could support Myanmar in developing nuclear medicine technologies for disease diagnosis and treatment. Commemorative gifts were exchanged at the end of the meeting.
On the morning of June 19, the Union Minister met with the Russian Federation’s Minister of Health, Mr. Mikhail Murashko, in a conference hall at the St. Petersburg forum venue. They held a cordial and open discussion, exchanging views on potential areas of collaboration between the two countries. Continuing their program, on the morning of June 21, the Union Minister and delegation visited the Geropharm pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in St. Petersburg.
Company officials presented the ongoing operations of the plant, and the delegation had an opportunity to raise questions and engage in detailed discussions about the manufacturing processes and pharmaceutical initiatives.
