Doses of virus vaccine arrive in Brazil for trials

The first 120,000 doses of an experimental COVID-19 vaccine arrived at Sao Paulo's international airport on Thursday morning.

The CoronaVac potential vaccine doses developed by Chinese biopharmaceutical firm Sinovac, to be tested on about 10,000 volunteers in seven states throughout Brazil. After the trial, the vaccine will need Brazilian authorities' approval to be produced by Sao Paulo's state-run Butantan Institute for distribution in the country. Coronavac is one among several vaccines on trial in Brazil, one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic.
