Donation For COVID-19: Korea Donates Medical Protective Equipments For Myanmar

The medical protective suits and equipments donated by NGOs in the Republic of Korea were handed over to Ministry of Health and Sports.

The handing over ceremony was held at the Embassy of Republic of Korea in Yangon on Tuesday.

The donation aims to prevent against COVID-19 for Myanmar and to commemorate 45th Anniversary of diplomatic relationship between two countries.

Korean Ambassador to Lee Sang-Hwa, Representative of KOFIH as well as officials from the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Yangon Region Government attended the ceremony.

At the event, the Korean ambassador handed over the medical equipments and shared the medical knowledge practiced by Korea to prevent coronavirus.

Ambassador, Embassy of Republic of Korea, H.E. Lee Sang-hwa said “This medical protective equipment donation is the first step of our collaboration in preventing COVID 19 with Myanmar. Due to the request of Ministry of Health and sports of Myanmar, we conduct medical supporting process. For response measures to COVID-19, the confirmed patients should be quarantined, done testing and given treatment .The one technique practiced by Korea Government is three “T”; Trace, Test and Treat. This is the effective process to prevent COVID 19.”

According to the Korean Ambassador, base on the instruction of WHO, Korea has been performing tests to 20,000 people in the country every day. This is the exemplary process for the prevention of COVID-19 to all of the international organizations.

The donation included 1000 medical protective suits and 50, 000 operation gloves by KOFIH-Korea Medical Foundation, 20, 000 operation suits and other medical suits by the KM health care and 5,000 of virus testing equipments by the Good neighbors.

Director General, Department of Medical Research, Dr. Zaw Than Tun said “In this condition, the safety of medical staffs touching with the patients is very important. So, the donation of medical equipment like suits and gloves is very effective. The COVID-19 is the world crisis now and equipments like these are not available even we give money. So, the donation from Korea is very supportive for Myanmar.”

Currently, Myanmar found two positive persons with corona virus on 23rd March and the Ministry of Health and Sport has been conducting monitoring activities and preventive and response measures against COVID 19 with the collaboration of international organizations.
