Donation Ceremony: Winning medals of Literati Daw Kyan donated

A ceremony to donate medals of Life-Time Literary Award Winner Sithu Daw Kyan was held at National Museum in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

On behalf of the doyen literati, her nephew Dr Than Tun Aung explained the purpose of the donations. Sithu Daw Kyan has wrote many books on history and literature while serving duties at the Historical Commission and Myanmar Language Commission.

From 1985 to 1990, she wrote 6 series of books on Myanmar Industrial History at the Ministry of Industry (1). She was awarded many honorary medals for her literary works. She died on 16 November 2019 at the age of 102.

She received five National Literary Awards, Life-Time Lterary Award and Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Literary Award. She also won the Medal (First Class) for Excellent Performance in the Field of Art, Outstanding Women Awards and was honoured with the “Sithu” title by the State. Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko expressed thanks for donating the valuable items for public studies.
