






The Public Health Department in Nay Pyi Taw is carrying out the prevention measures for dengue fever with added momentum since the health officials estimated the cases to increase this year.
Over 20 patients have been found so far in Nay Pyi Taw, and the department is accelerating the preventive measures at the residential areas.
Dr. Si Thu, Deputy Regional Medical Officer, Department of Public Health, Nay Pyi Taw said "Dengue is a popular issue happened normally in one or two years separately. Comparison with last year’s record, the cases in this year have been estimated to increase. Recently, we found 21 patients and no death cases so far in Nay Pyi Taw. We are carrying out lava control plan at 333 quarters and villages which cover over 70,000 households. We help cleaning the water containers from lava, and the coverage reaches for over 300,000 residents. We also sprayed anti-mosquito repellent at 364 households in 9 wards. "
The prevention measures have also being carried out at the schools in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Si Thu, Deputy Regional Medical Officer, Department of Public Health, Nay Pyi Taw said "For lava control at the schools, we have been carrying out the process since before the reopening of schools. The process has been carried at 296 schools and over 60,000 households. We also organized health educative talks for about 7,000 times with the attendees of over 100,000 people. Protection and prevention of dengue is very important for each citizen. If you found any symptoms of dengue, please take a treatment from health’s staff. Dengue is caused by the Aedes mosquito species, and is can be found in clear water, so it needs to clear bushes in the compound while cleaning water containers, old tires which can keep the rain water, old bottles, vases, and so on. "
The health officials called for participation of people since people plays the major role to success for protection and prevention plans of the dengue fever which is being carried out by the Ministry of Health.
