Disaster Preparedness: Mitigation to disaster in Tanintharyi Region

A ceremony on disaster response drill for Tanintharyi Region was organized by regional disaster management committee.

It was took place at Dawei river, Dawei Township on 20th June and Chief Minister U Myat Ko and concerned officials attended the event and encourage the participants.

During the event, they demonstrated the disaster mitigation measures, using loudspeakers to alert residents who living along the coastal area, sharing the pamphlets, evacuation and transportation measure and debris clearing, rescuing individuals by using search and rescue equipment as well as healthcare services, providing first aid to emergency patients, verifications to identified missing persons.

The Chief Minister advised the fishing boats and tourists along the coastal shoreline to be cautious of natural disaster such as cyclonic storm during monsoon, landslides and floods. He also urged for disaster preparation measure and called departmental personnel for collaboration of rehabilitation measure aftermath of disaster.

Following that, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation to the regional natural disaster management committee, relevant departments, and all participants involved in the emergency drills.
