Disaster Preparedness: Cyclone disaster response drill in Mawlamyine

A cyclone disaster response drill was conducted in Myain Thaya Ward of Mawlamyine Township in Mon State on Sunday. The exercise was organized by the Township Fire Services Department and the Disaster Management Department under the supervision of the Township Administration Committee.

Officials explained cyclone warning systems, safety precautions before, during, and after a storm, and emergency response procedures. Participants practiced evacuation, search-and-rescue operations, first aid, and assisting children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities to move to safe locations. Around 200 participants, including firefighters, Red Cross members, police officers, social organizations, and local residents, took part in the disaster preparedness drill aimed at improving community readiness for cyclone emergencies.
