Disaster Management: SWRR Union Minister Inspects EOC

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine visited Emergency Operation Center (EOC) opened by the Department of Disaster Management on Wednesday and discussed the reports of responsible officials to carry out the necessary disaster management activities related to Cyclone Asani by the issuances of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology and taking information from the International Meteorological Websites.

In response to the report of an official on the location of cyclone storm "Asani" over the West Central Bay of Bengal, its wind speed, the forecast of the cyclone's approach to the Indian coast and the cyclone's impact on Myanmar, the Union Minister said that it needs to monitor the paths of the cyclone Asani during the cyclone period, to make disaster management on time, sharing the information of the cyclone to regions and states and called for closely cooperation with regional governments for preparations of disaster management.

The Deputy Minister also discussed that it is necessary to monitor constantly the disaster response plans of India that may be affected by cyclone Asani and make records for the assessment.
