






Myanmar National Committee for Women’s Affairs (MNCWA) held its meeting (2/2022) at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Monday through hybrid system.
At the meeting, Chairperson of the MNCWA, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine said that the Women’s Committees have been formed in Nay Pyi Taw Council, 15 regions and states, 74 districts and 330 townships to implement effectively the women development tasks.
She stressed the needs on extension of women committees in respective regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council. The MNCWA meeting is held twice a year and reviewing the work programs, supervising the necessary things and adopting future plans are being carried out.
The Union Minister also stressed the needs on making discussion to draw the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW) Phase II depending on the strong and weak points, conducting public awareness on 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence which will run from 25 November to 10 December and implementation of livelihood-recovery project for rural women during COVID-19 in Nay Pyi Taw and the project villages of Rakhine state for 2022-2023.
The Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement discussed protection and development of women. Members of MNCWA and officials reported on respective sectors and implementations in the regions.
