Development Project: Work progress of Tha Htay Hydropower Project inspected

Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han, together with the Officials from Rakhine State Government, visited ThaHtay Hydropower Project on Saturday.
The project is being implemented by No.4 Construction of the Hydropower Implementation Department, on ThaHtay Creek, 12 miles Northeast of Thandwe in Rakhine State. Officials reported on implementation of the major works including the main dam, spillway, water intake building, tunnel, sluice gate, high speed steel pipe line, power plant and switch yard as well as relocation of the villages from the catchment areas of the dam.
The Union Minister discussed for worksite safety, meeting the set standard and long term durability of the project. He added that the project could generate job opportunities for local people and urged them to complete the project in the scheduled time.
The Union Minister later inspected the completion of the project site. The main dam of the project can store 0.696 million acre ft of water at full brim and it has three 37 megawatts generators which could generate 386 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
At present, over 73% of the project has completed, and it is targeted to complete in 2025-2026 fiscal year. The Union Minister and party later visited Payit and YayKauk Villages which have been relocated, and met with the residents. They also inspected the measures for availability of electricity and water supply, transportation access and infrastructure buildings.
