Departing for Mumbai: President departed to Mumbai from New Delhi

The high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, who is on an official visit to New Delhi, India, continued their journey in the morning on June 2nd, departing from Palam Air Force Base in New Delhi by special aircraft for Mumbai.

The delegation, led by the President, was seen off at the airport by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, along with officials from the Indian government, as well as families from the embassy and military attaché’s office.

Subsequently, the delegation led by the President arrived at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai in the afternoon. They were welcomed by the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Jishnu Dev, officials from the state government, and the Myanmar Consul General in Kolkata along with their family members.

Afterwards, the high-level Myanmar delegation led by the President visited Jawaharlal Nehru Port, where they were welcomed by the Chairman of the Port Authority, Mr. Gaurav Dayal, IAS, and port officials. Subsequently, at the port's meeting hall, officials delivered a welcome address, warmly greeting the high-level Myanmar delegation led by President U Min Aung Hlaing, and presented the port's history and key information.

The President and delegation members then viewed videos on port operations and the proposed Vadhavan Port project, with officials providing explanations. In response to the presentations, the President stated that the purpose of the visit to study the port was because Myanmar is currently undertaking port construction projects.

He noted that having learned this port is an internationally renowned major port. He observed that according to the presentations, this is a world-class port ranking 23rd globally and 1st in India, operating under a PPP system. He explained that Myanmar has two ports, Yangon Port and Thilawa Port, with Thilawa Port being connected to a special economic zone. He added that the delegation came to study this port in order to upgrade Myanmar's state-owned ports.

Afterwards, the President and the Chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority exchanged commemorative gifts and posed for a group photo.

The President and delegation members then toured Jawaharlal Nehru Port, during which the President asked questions and discussed matters of interest based on the explanations provided by responsible officials, it’s reported.
