Delegation departed for Kunming: Delegation led by Union Minister for Information

As the prior campaign for 2024, China-ASEAN Year of Cultural Exchange and in preparation for the 75th anniversary of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations in 2025, to deepen comprehensive cooperation and media collaboration between the China and Myanmar aim, the opening ceremony of the 2024 China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week and the 4th Twin City Media Forum will be held in Kunming, Yunnan Province, Myanmar delegation comprised of 48 officials and representatives from various ministries led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn departed Yangon International Airport for Kunming on 11th November.

During the opening ceremony of the China-Myanmar Cultural Exchange Week, cultural exchange programs will feature performances from Chinese cultural troupes, while Myanmar’s Ministry of Information and MRTV staff will perform traditional dances.

Additionally, artists from Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture will showcase dances, displays of Myanmar’s traditional lacquerware by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and tourism sceneries photo exhibition by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. Further agreements and cooperative initiatives will be signed at the event, including plans for 2024 Online New Media training, co-production of agriculture and energy TV programs, a media cooperation plan for 2025, translation and publication of Chinese and Myanmar literary classics, and agreements to promote tourism and joint tourism operations.

These initiatives will be signed by media organizations from Yunnan Province and relevant ministries and media representatives from Myanmar. The Twin City Media Forum will include discussions by Chinese and Myanmar media professionals, agriculture experts, and energy specialists on topics such as “Enhancing China-Myanmar Collaboration in the Era of New Media,” and “Building ‘Media+’ Partnerships for Greater Impact.”

The Myanmar delegation will also visit areas like Kunlun Ancient Town in Yang’an District, the Media Center in Chuxiong City, and modern agricultural development sites to observe local developments in agriculture, tourism expansion, media growth, and preservation of traditional crafts.

These cultural and media cooperation efforts aim to strengthen mutual understanding and friendly relations between the governments and people of China and Myanmar. Additionally, this initiative will act as a follow-up to the socio-economic initiatives promoted during the November 5–10, 2024, visit to China by Myanmar’s State Administration Council Chairman and Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, facilitating swift and practical implementation of development actions.
