Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced a day of national mourning following an accident at the railway station in Novi Sad (north) in which 14 people were killed when an external roof collapsed. The incident happened early Friday at the city's main train station. The roof provided shade near the entrance and was a popular place for commuters.

In a televised address, he said among the dead was a young child between the ages of six and seven years old. He also promised that those responsible would be severely punished, and called for "political responsibility" from the government.
