Czech protesters rallied in Prague on Tuesday to protest coronavirus measures, amid government plans to extend a state of emergency which will continue to keep all but essential businesses closed.

Parliament is expected to vote on Thursday for an extension that will last until Dec 20. Protesters say coronavirus measures are too damaging to the economy. The Czech Republic has been hard hit by a new surge of coronavirus infections but the number of new cases has been declining since November 4. The health ministry said 5,406 people had tested positive for coronavirus on Monday. The country has had more than 468,000 virus cases and 6,487 deaths, according to a widely used tally by Johns Hopkins University in the U.S.
