Cultural Heritage: Myinsaing Nan Oo Pagoda in Mandalay

For the country, it can be proud of having many ancient towns in Myanmar listed in UNESCO world heritage. Magnificently located near Mandalay, while there are palace city walls, turrets, moats and many other ancient towns to study, the ancient towns of Inwa, Pinya, Makkhaya and Myinsaing possess numerous things to observe.

Among them, within MyinSaing Nan Oo Pagoda compound in the ancient town Myinsaing, the ancient Buddha’s life stories terracotta plaques and letters can be studied till now. Existing Nan Oo Cetis which are leading exact direction to Myinsaing town up to this day is delightful.

In Myinsaing town at a distance of 4 miles east from Kyaukse Township in Mandalay region, visitors can pay obeisance to Myin Saing Nan Oo Pagoda.

It is a landing pagoda build with four angles terraces decorated with terracotta plaques and letters. Over 174 feet high pagoda is located on its three-layer terrace and the base terrace has 174 into 174 feet for each side. Athinkhaya Min was built it in 662 ME while establishing the palace and then, King Uzana rebuilt over the original one in 691 ME. From above the pagoda, it can also be seen nearby ancient mountaintop pagodas and Myinsaing city wall.
