Cultural Event: Yangon hosts Kayin New Year Celebration

The Kayin New Year celebration was held at the Union National Races Village in Thaketa Township of Yangon Region on Friday. The ceremony began with a flag-raising event, followed by the official opening marked by traditional drum beats and horn blowing.

Leader of the Central Advisory Board of the National Defence and Security, Honorary Patron of the Central Kayin Literature and Culture Committee U Saw Tun Aung Myint, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Jacko Htoo made speeches. The program included traditional Kayin cultural dances.

During the event, the Yangon Regional Government presented honorary cash to support the successful hosting of the Kayin New Year festival. The celebration featured traditional performances, cultural displays, food stalls, and traditional clothing shops.
