Cuba says schools to reopen next week, despite energy crisis

Cuba's Education Minister Naima Trujillo on Thursday confirmed that the new school year would begin as planned on September 1, despite a severe energy crunch underscored by another major blackout. The minister added that Nearly 1.4 million children and adolescents will head back to school, and urged schools to be flexible and welcome students in “comfortable clothes” and their traditional red neckerchiefs.
