Cuba president on sanctions against Russia

Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of Cuba, on Monday said his government will continue to plead for a "serious, constructive and realist" solution in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

In his first remarks on the Russian military operation since the conflict started, he condemned the international sanctions imposed against Russia.

Díaz-Canel also said to oppose the use of force against any country, appearing to defend the Russian position of being forced by a Ukrainian threat to invade it.

During the past decade, Russia and Cuba had strengthened political relations since the decay of the 90's fall of the Soviet Union.
