COVID-19 Prevention: Vaccination Programme For YBS Drivers And Staff

Ministry of Health has been conducting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Nay Pyi Taw Council area, regions and states for the disease prevention and control. In Yangon, 2,555 Yangon Bus Service (YBS) drivers and staff received the 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccines in line with the COVID-19 prevention guidelines.

Currently, about 97 YBS lines are operating in Yangon with over 2,500 buses. Nearly 500,000 persons use the Yangon Bus Service a day. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.

However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. The Ministry of Health purchased millions of COVID-19 vaccines and also accepted millions donated by friendly countries. Also, one million units of vaccines donated by and purchased from Russia will arrive in Myanmar this month.
