COVID-19 Prevention: Vaccination Programme continues in regions and states

Ministry of Health has been conducting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in regions and states for the disease prevention and control.

On the 12th of June, residents in 26 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, 5 townships of Rakhine and Chin states and 7 districts of Mandalay Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

Also, school children aged between 5 and 12 in 3 townships of Rakhine State and also in Kayin State, Tanintharyi Region, Bago Region, Magway Region, Yangon Region, northern Shan State and Ayeyawaddy Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment.

However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. The Ministry of Health purchased millions of COVID-19 vaccines and also accepted millions donated by friendly countries.
