COVID-19 Prevention: Vaccination Programme And Mask Campaigns

Ministry of Health has been conducting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in regions and states for the disease prevention and control.

On the 13th of September, residents in 2 townships of Yangon Region, 26 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, 3 townships of Rakhine State, 7 districts of Mandalay Region and 1 township of Bago Region received the COVID-19 vaccines. Also, students in 26 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region, 5 townships of Rakhine State and 7 districts of Mandalay Region received the COVID-19 vaccines.

Mask campaigns were also carried out in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, 19 townships of northern Shan State, 3 townships of Ayeyawaddy Region and 11 townships of Mandalay Region. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people who fall sick with COVID-19 will experience mild to moderate symptoms and recover without special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention.

The Ministry of Health purchased millions of COVID-19 vaccines and also accepted millions donated by friendly countries.
