COVID-19 Meeting: Union Minister Stresses Prevention and Control Measures

A coordination meeting was held on Friday through videoconferencing for COVID-19 prevention and control.

In the meeting, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Thet Khaing Win stressed the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases on the 27th of May including the outbreak in Tamu Township of Sagaing Region and Tonzang and Kyikha townships of Chin State. Aid for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment is being sent to Tunzan and Kyikha townships – also, control measures including lockdown, swab testing and health awareness campaign are being accelerated, he added. He highlighted the importance of COVID-19 prevention and control measures in Myawaddy of Kayin State as migrant workers return through the town from the neighbouring country. He also stressed COVID-19 confirmed cases in Dawei of Tanintharyi Region. Regarding the confirmed cases, pledging to make a new COVID-19 variant test, the Union Minister called for cooperation on COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

The meeting continued with discussions on effective COVID-19 control and treatment measures in regions and states and requirements.
