Covid-19 Meeting: Union Minister Stresses Concern Over New Variant ‘Omicron’

Ministry of Health on Tuesday held a meeting for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment.

In his address, Union Minister of Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win stressed concern over the new COVID variant Omicron although the COVID-19 third wave is under control to some extent in the country.

Preparations including travel restrictions, test with Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) equipment and setting up the machine in border towns and research and monitoring the spread of new COVID variant Omicron in countries.

He called for efforts for public awareness raising, adherence to COVID-19 prevention guidelines and vaccination programme.

This meeting continued with discussions on COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment measures including oxygen supply readiness, Intensive Care Unit and High Dependency Unit preparations at hospitals, research and quarantine centers preparations.
