Ministry of Health and Sports issued an announcement on the 28th of May 2021. It states that the Ministry announced the order by exercising the authority stipulated in Sub-Section (b) of Section 21 of the Prevention and Control of the Communicable Diseases Law.

Since the Ministry of Health and Sports has been taking preventive measures against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in real-time, people from some townships need to stay at home as the number of the confirmed patients is rising in Chin State and Sagaing Region. Hence, the people residing in Tonzang Township of Chin State and Tamu Township of Sagaing Region are involved in the Stay-at-Home programme.

The people inclusive of the Stay-at-Home programme from these two townships need to abide by these disciplines:

(a) Reside at homes only (except for the persons going to government departments, organizations, companies, factories and workplaces for serving duties);
(b) Only one person from each house to go out shopping;
(c) Only two persons per house to go to hospitals and clinics;
(d) Wear masks when going outside the homes;(e) Allow ferries of transporting returnees from workplaces to pass the wards;(f) Allow one person only in addition to a driver in a vehicle for shopping in the community; and two persons with the driver for going to hospitals or clinics.

Also, people need to report to relevant ward administration bodies and seek approval for going outside their house when they have reason in order to increase limited numbers of participants in the measures and other emergency issues. Relevant administration bodies need not allow ingoing and outgoing persons, except for officials and those returnees from duty.

Action will be taken against those who fail to abide by the order under the existing laws. The order came into force at 4 am on the 29th of May 2021.
