Courtesy call by Chinse Delegation: Chinese delegation paid a courtesy call

A delegation led by Mr. Deng Xijiun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, paid a courtesy visit to the Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, at the Tatmadaw Guesthouse in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on October 14.

At the meeting, they openly discussed the conditions for holding the 10th anniversary ceremony of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), the involvement of international witnesses including China during the signing of the NCA, China's continued emphasis on supporting Myanmar's internal peace and development, and its respect for Myanmar's sovereignty.

They also talked about the preparations underway for holding free and fair elections in Myanmar in December, and China's support for these elections. The arrangements made to enable voting using Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVM) to ensure free and fair elections were discussed, as well as the invitation extended to international election observation groups including China.

Additionally, they exchanged views on cooperation for peace and stability in the border areas between the two countries, and the ongoing efforts to enhance mutual friendship and collaboration.

After the meeting, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman demonstrated the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machines (MEVM) to be used during the election to the Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officials from the Election Commission explained the operational procedures of the voting machines step by step, and responded to inquiries from the Special Envoy regarding the election.
