Corn is being exported to China from Myanmar. In order to officially transfer and import goods through Myanmar-China bilateral agreement, more than 130 companies have passed the criteria called GACC of the Custom department of People’s Republic of China. Starting from next October, corn will be started exporting to PRC under the bilateral agreement.

General Secretary, Myanmar Corn Industrial Association, Dr. Phyo Ko Ko Naing said "Although there are almost 130 companies that have passed the criteria called GACC, corn can’t be exported in this current situation because China registration numbers are not available yet. But the China registration numbers will be issued within the next 1 or 2 months. There are 86 Myanmar companies in 1st stage, 22 in 2nd stage and 4 companies in addition, as a result, a total of more than 100 companies have submitted to the GACC and passed the check of specified limitations."

There is a potential for China corn export market to be a huge export market than Thailand if only China registration numbers are available.

According to the rules and regulations of China’s custom department, there are specified limitations in exporting corns, concerning with corn’s quality, kinds of substance content and moisture level. In exporting to China, the rules and regulations are more restricted than the common ones.

General Secretary, Myanmar Corn Industrial Association, Dr. Phyo Ko Ko Naing said "There is corn demand in China and it is expected that the China registration number will be issued in September and we will export corns, starting in October and November which coincides with the corn harvesting time of Shan State, the most corn’s grower region in Myanmar."

70% of the export volume of corn is going to Thailand and corn is exported to the Philippines and Viet Nam as second.
