The Copenhagen Light Festival opened this weekend days after Denmark scrapped most pandemic restrictions on Tuesday. Artworks are on display across the capital, with the city expecting more than 500,000 people to visit during the festival's three week run.
Installation "Phenix," by French artist Julien Menzel, invites visitors to think about nature, hope and the rebirth of social interactions, after two difficult years of COVID-19. During the festival, people also expected to marry at light weddings, and a lightrun hopes to set a European record for the numbers of participants. The Copenhagen Light Festival lasts until February 27.
