COP29 GCF launch Pacific Youth Academy fight for climate action

The Green Climate Funds (GCF) has partnered with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment through funding and the empowerment of Pacific youth in leading campaigns on climate action in their respective countries.

This was followed by the successful launch of the Pacific Youth Academy for Climate Action at the Blue Moana Pacific Pavilion at the COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. According to GCF Director Investment Services, the Academy will support about 60 Pacific Islanders age 18 to 30 to inform and inspire greater climate action in the region on the front lines of the climate crisis.

These youth will form 15 national teams to launch and drive public-facing campaigns to scale up climate action that is in tune with their respective cultures and traditions.
