



Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended a coordination meeting of the Urea Fertilizer Purchasing and Distribution Steering Committee in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
In his opening remarks, the Union Minister said the meeting aimed to review the implementation of fertilizer import and distribution during the 2025–2026 fiscal year and to prepare for the 2026–2027 fiscal year to ensure sufficient fertilizer supply for the upcoming monsoon paddy cultivation season.
The Union Minister also noted that the reference price for March was set at 94,000 kyats per bag of urea and 115,000 kyats per bag of compound fertilizer. He urged relevant departments and companies to ensure timely imports, maintain stable prices, and prevent hoarding or price manipulation. Officials and representatives from related organizations discussed the current supply situation and future plans.
It is learnt that from April 2025 to March 2026, import licenses were approved for about 1.68 million tons of fertilizer and 32,676 tons of pesticides. As of early February 2026, over 1.1 million tons of fertilizer had been imported and about 983,000 tons distributed nationwide.
