






The 2025-2026 Fiscal Year Second Six-Month Coordination Meeting of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was held on March 11 at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.
The meeting discussed the implementation status of activities aimed at enhancing the sports and youth sectors, reviving Myanmar's sports, improving sports standards, discovering new-generation athletes, and upgrading and completing sports stadiums, indoor stadiums, and swimming pools with quality standards.
The meeting was attended by Directors in charge from Nay Pyi Taw (Headquarters) and Regions and States serving in the Ministry. Firstly, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung delivered an opening address, urging Directors in charge to focus on opening basic training courses during the summer school holidays to produce new-generation athletes capable of winning gold medals, particularly in Olympic sports such as swimming and athletics.
She stated that to develop the sports sector, it is necessary to comprehensively report on budget allocations, sectoral implementation weaknesses, strengths, challenges, and requirements so that the Ministry's objectives, policies, and tasks can be successfully implemented in collaboration with partner organizations including relevant Region and State Government officials, related organizations, and social organizations.
Subsequently, Directors in charge of branches from the Institutes of Sports and Physical Education, Regions and States, and Headquarters (Nay Pyi Taw) respectively discussed and reported on work measures. Following this, Deputy Directors General in charge of respective branches, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, the Director General of the Sports and Physical Education Department, and the Permanent Secretary respectively discussed and reported necessary matters according to the work implementation sectors of their relevant branches.
Deputy Ministers then supplemented discussions regarding sports sector development activities and the branch-wise discussion reports. Afterwards, the Union Minister provided necessary guidance and delivered a concluding speech.
