






The Industrial Development Commission’s Coordination Meeting (2/2025) was held at the meeting room of the office No. 30 of the Ministry of Industry in the afternoon of May 26.
The meeting was attended by the Commission Chairman, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General Mya Tun Oo, as well as other Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, representatives from UMFCCI, and relevant departmental officials.
According to the agenda, the Commission Chairman explained that the purpose of establishing the Commission is to provide multi-sectoral support for the development of the domestic industrial sector in accordance with set procedures.
He emphasized the importance of the continuous growth of local industries and the systematic implementation of new industrial projects. He also noted the current demand for construction materials such as cement and steel, which are essential for the national reconstruction efforts.
Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that existing factories within the country operate at full capacity and that plans for establishing new factories are expanded simultaneously. Following this, the Commission Secretary, Deputy Minister for Industry, presented the Commission’s ongoing initiatives and proposals that have been submitted.
The Vice Chairman of the Commission and Union Minister for Industry also shared details regarding the estimated needs for cement, steel bars, and steel structures required for the reconstruction of buildings damaged by the Mandalay earthquake, the production capacities of the domestic cement and steel factories, the current demand for raw materials, and the projected import requirements for cement and steel bars.
Commission members Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers discussed the ongoing work of respective ministries in support of industrial sector development. In his speech of conclusion, the Commission Chairman expressed gratitude for the suggestions and discussions provided by the members. He emphasized the importance of successfully implementing the Commission’s responsibilities, goals, and strategic plans.
