




The Broadcasting Governing Body (BGB) Coordination Meeting (1/2026) under the Ministry of Information was held Monday afternoon at the Ministry's assembly hall in Nay Pyi Taw.
First, Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin stated that the Broadcasting Governing Body was first established in 2013. He noted that private companies that have already been granted broadcasting licenses are also authorized to operate online media alongside their original television broadcasts. He urged them to comply with existing laws, contractual terms, periodically issued directives, and codes of ethics. He added that arrangements are being made to register and scrutinize online media operations that are currently broadcasting without permission, and to issue further necessary directives in accordance with legal provisions, with ongoing efforts to facilitate this process.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the Governing Body, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, discussed matters related to ensuring error-free television broadcasting.
The Vice-Chairman of the Governing Body and Permanent Secretary, along with the Director-General of Myanmar Radio and Television, also discussed issues concerning television broadcasting. Responsible officials then presented on technical, visual, administrative, and financial matters.
Following these presentations, representatives from the attending television broadcasting companies and FM radio stations raised discussions and submitted their views. The Chairman of the Governing Body then delivered the concluding remarks, it’s reported.
