Convenient Transportation: Launching of DEMU express trains

The Myanma Railways has announced the launch of modern air-conditioned DEMU express trains on the Yangon–Mandalay–Yangon and Yangon–Nay Pyi Taw–Yangon routes starting May 1.

The Yangon–Mandalay service includes No. 5 Up-Train which will leave Yangon at 6:00 am in the morning and arrive Mandalay at 4:00 pm in the evening, and No. 6 Down-Train which will leave Mandalay at 6:00 am and arrive Yangon at 6:10 pm. These trains will make stopping at key stations including Toe Kyaung Kha Lay, Pyay, Taungoo, Pyinmana, and Nay Pyi Taw, with fares of 48,000 kyat for upper class and 34,000 kyat for first class.

On the Yangon–Nay Pyi Taw route, trains No. 31 and 32 will leave at 10:00 am in the morning and arrive its destinations at 3:00 pm, and trains No. 7 and 8 will leave at 12:30 pm and reach their destinations at 5:30 pm. It will also provide air-conditioned DEMU services, stopping at major stations along the way.

Tickets for all services are available through the online Railways Ticketing and Payment (ORTP) system. Myanma Railways emphasized that the expansion and increased frequency of train services aim to enhance passenger convenience and accommodate growing travel demand.
