Convenience for Commuters: YRTC expands urban transportation system

Due to the high price of fuel oil in the world, transportation costs are also rising. As a result, people become mostly using the public transportation in Yangon. Because of that, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC) is expanding their urban transportation system. 

As a result of high fuel price, taxi fees have also risen and people are more using in public transportation in their daily basis.  

Hla Min Oo, Passenger said "In my opinion, it will be more convenient for the passengers if the number of buses is increased. Taxis fees have increased more and more because of high fuel prices and it makes inconvenient for passengers.  "

Currently, although the fuel price is high, the Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise is selling CNG gas with the previous price. 

Kyaw Thuya Win, GM, Natural Gas Vehicle Department said "There are 46 CNG gas filling stations nationwide. When we distributed the gas to CNG stations 24 hours, it was around 24 million cubic feet per day. Now, we distribute the gas from 5am to 9pm daily. More than 16 million and around 17 million cubic feet of gas are used. "

LyanCinMang, Joint Secretary, Yangon region Public Transport Committee (YRTC) said "We have 128 buses lines. We expanded the bus routes to the areas that are not connected to the ways to new living areas and when the universities open."

YRTC has over 5,000 CNG gas vehicles and over 600 vehicles using diesel. Currently, 1.1 million commuters are using public transpiration every day in Yangon.
