Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw, conducted a field inspection in the afternoon on July 20. They visited the area near Thit Tat Village in Zeyar Thiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, along the old Yangon-Mandalay Road between mileposts 225/0 and 225/4. There, they observed the systematic excavation of the new Ma Paik Kal Yoe drainage canal on the eastern side of the road and discussed necessary matters with responsible officials, providing instructions.
The Ma Paik Kal Yoe drainage canal, with a catchment area of 1.67 square miles, normally flows into the Paunglaung River. However, due to severe rainfall, flooding has occurred. Therefore, a new drainage canal is being excavated on the eastern side of the old Yangon-Mandalay Road. The earthwork for this drainage project, spanning 3,890 feet in length and involving 3,452 cubic yards of earth, is expected to be completed during the rainy season.
After that, the Union Minister and accompanying officials inspected the construction of spectator stands and road development projects for the upgrade of the Agricultural University football field within the Yezin University campus area. They also coordinated and facilitated necessary arrangements for these projects.
