Commuter train crash and fire near San Francisco

Several injuries are reported after a Caltrain commuter train caught fire after colliding with on-track equipment south of San Francisco on Thursday.

San Bruno Fire Chief Ari Delay told that there was one serious injury, five moderate injuries and seven minor injuries among the Caltrain employees and passengers.

The crash involved a southbound train that departed San Francisco at 10:14 a.m. and soon collided with some on-track equipment just after 10:38 a.m. in the city of San Bruno. The fire has been extinguished and train traffic has been halted in the area.
