The Union Price Stability Committee held its meeting on Thursday, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein.

The meeting discussed the rising prices of essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, meat, fish, and eggs, and their impact on workers and low-income groups. The committee emphasized strict monitoring to keep prices stable across states and regions.

They also highlighted government support for agriculture, including low-interest loans and efforts to increase domestic production of staple crops and edible oil to reduce import dependency. Discussions covered current supply and demand, challenges faced in distribution, especially in earthquake-affected areas, and plans to prevent shortages and price hikes.

The committee urged all responsible agencies and local authorities to coordinate and implement measures to ensure steady supply and affordable prices for basic commodities.
