Commemorative Events: 70th anniversary celebration of Kayin State Day

70th anniversary celebration of Kayin State Day took place at the Kayin State Government Office on Friday. Union Minister at the President Office (1) U Tin Aung San attended the event, together with the Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Chairman of the Central Advisory Board to the National Defence and Security Council and its members, state and region ministers, representatives of the ethnic armed organizations, political parties, townselders and local ethnic communities.

The celebration commenced with saluting the State Flag, followed by paying tribute to the fallen heroes. Union Minister U Tin Aung San later read out the message sent by Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Tihri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.

Then, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo extended greetings, commemorating the Kayin State Day. This was followed by inauguration of the ceremonial arch and commemorative booths, and the release of 70 doves. In addition, winners of vegetables and fruits competition, commemorating the Kayin State Day were awarded during the occasion.

The celebration also included traditional boat race, Letwei Competition and Don Dance Contest. On November 6, the ceremony to present the certificates of honour and honorary gifts to the award recipients for their outstanding performance in administration, agriculture, livestock breeding, education, research, social, nationalism and religion.

A total of 86 recipients were awarded during the ceremony. Likewise, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of Avenue Park, as a commemoration to the Kayin State Day. The Union Minister and party also visited the Youth Center and enjoyed the Don Dance contest.
