Commemorative Event: 75th anniversary of Geneva Convention

A ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of Geneva Convention was held at Myitkyina University on Wednesday, in conjunction with the Photo Exhibition.

The event was jointly organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and Kachin State Red Cross Supervisory Committee. The ceremony featured speeches by the officials from the state government, Myitkyina University, ICRC, Red Cross and professors from Myanmar, Thai, China and Cambodia.

The photo exhibition also display the photos highlighting the basic principles for humanitarian concepts. The event also includes introdution to ICRC and Myanmar Red Cross Society, as well as the International Humanitarian Law and duties of ICRC.

Geneva Convention is one of the significant success for humanitarian assistance in the world history, and it has now reached 75th anniversary. The celebration is scheduled to be held for two days at the Myitkyina University.
