Combating online Scam: Efforts to eradicate online fraud and telecom scam

Authorities in Myanmar continue to investigate online fraud and telecom scam cases.

On Saturday, five more Chinese nationals involved in illegal cross-border activities were arrested in Myawaddy Township and are being processed for deportation. Since January 30, 2025, to February 14, 2026, a total of 14,205 foreign nationals entering Myawaddy illegally have been detained, with 13,117 already safely repatriated through Thailand according to legal procedures. The remaining 1,088 are ready for repatriation and are under proper custody.

The government is actively working with neighboring countries and international organizations to crack down on online scams, prosecute foreign offenders, and ensure the safe return of foreign victims of human trafficking and other crimes.
