Colourful lights illuminate Beijing

The streets of China’s capital Beijing have been adorned with festive decorations, lights and lanterns as the traditional Spring Festival is just around the corner. The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, falls on Feb 10 this year. 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, according to the Chinese zodiac.

Hundreds of red lanterns and “Chinese Knot”-shaped lights have been set up along Chang’an Avenue in downtown Beijing. After sunset, the lights on Beijing’s main streets, in business districts and on new landmarks in Beijing are lit up, creating a picture to impress locals and tourists alike.
