Co-op Mart opened in Nay Pyi Taw: Efforts for promoting cooperative sector

Hailing the 100th anniversary of the International Cooperative Day which falls on July 2nd, MCRD Co-op Mart was opened in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Development of Rural Areas U Hla Moe said the opening of the mart aims for welfare of the staff, and the basic foodstuff such as rice, edible oil, salt, chili and onion as well as lacquerware, cotton wares and consumer goods will be put on sales with reasonable price.

He urged all to strive for long term existence of the facility and achieving progress. The Union Minister later attended the meeting of the Central Committee on Supervising Loan Imbursement along with the clarification on the facts for thriving of cooperatives works.

The Union Minister discussed that the cooperative associations need to provide assistance for development of agriculture and livestock breeding sector for increased incomes of rural people.

He stressed the needs to carry out the Cooperative Contract Farming system for welfare of the farmers in cooperation with the private companies or with the use of state budget allotment and the association fund.

Three smart villages each are chosen to established in each region and state for promoting the capacity of the cooperative associations. He urged all to make cooperative efforts for successful implementation of the vision and missions of the ministry.
