Clean-up activities: Sanitations conduced at the closed relief camps in Bago

10,628 flood-affected people were evacuated at the relief camps in Bago Region due to surging Bago River triggered by torrential rains.

As the water recedes now, some relief camps for flood victims have been closed starting 14th August and all rescue camps have been closed completely on 15th August according to an official of Bago Region Government.

Tin Oo ,Minister of Economy, Bago Region said " Under the instruction of the Bago Region Chief Minister, we conduct sanitation tasks at the closed rescue camps in cooperation with regional ministers, departmental heads, philanthropic organizations, military servicemen, Myanmar Police Force, Fire Brigade members, Red Cross Society, social organizations and the people in the relief camps. We will also provide rice, cooking oil and salt to flood-affected people so that they can get ready to have when they arrive at home."

Tun Aung Kyaw ,Bago Township Administrator said " Starting 14th August, 31 relief camps, out of 34 were closed. The flooded people return back to their places. They have been accommodated mostly at the monasteries and schools and we conduct cleaning tasks when the rescue camps have been closed."

During evacuating at the relief camps, departmental officials of Bago Region Government and volunteer organizations provided assistance to flood-affected people. Health care services were given to them by the health staffs and Tatmadaw mobile medical team.

Myint Myint , Oaktha Myothit, No.7 ward said " The water recedes now so that we will go back home. We’d like to express thanks to Bago Region Chief Minister as well as concerned officials to give a helping hand when we encounter flood."

Mya Sabai Tun, Oaktha Myothit, No.7 ward said " When the water surged, we thought it was normal. As the level gradually rose, we prepared to pack our materials. The rescue teams brought us to the Pyinnya Mon Parahita monastery. One behalf all-affected people, we express thanks to Sayadaw and Bago region government."

Collective sanitation tasks were conducted at the closed relief camps that were opened at the monasteries and schools in cooperation of Tatmadawmen, Myanmar Police Force, Fire Brigade members and departmental staffs.
