Chinlone Competitions: Myanmar Women and Men teams secured highest scores

The group stage matches for Traditional Chinlone, Sepak Takraw and Cricket (Men's/Women's Team) at the 33rd SEA Games were held in the morning on December 9, at the respective sports grounds/venues in Bangkok, Thailand. Chairman of Myanmar Olympic Committee, Union Minister for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, along with officials, attended to watch and support.

In the morning, at the Nakhonpathom Sport Center in Bangkok, Thailand, the Myanmar Women's and Men's traditional chinlone teams respectively participated in the traditional chinlone group stage Linking (Event 3) competition and the Men's Team group stage Linking (Event 3) competitions held there.

In the Women's Team traditional chinlone group stage Linking (Event 3) competition, teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos competed. Thailand scored 94 points, Laos scored 317 points, Myanmar scored 461 points, and Malaysia scored 118 points. Therefore, the Myanmar Women's team achieved the highest score.

Subsequently, in the Men's Team traditional chinlone group stage Linking (Event 3) competition, teams from Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, and Timor-Leste competed. Thailand scored 501 points, Laos scored 410 points, Myanmar scored 545 points, Malaysia scored 167 points, and Timor-Leste scored 68 points. Therefore, the Myanmar Men's team achieved the highest score.

Following that, the Union Minister encouraged the administrators/coaches and athletes of the Myanmar Chinlone team to give their utmost effort to achieve even better scores in the upcoming matches. He then presented cash awards of honor to the athletes from the Myanmar Men's and Women's Chinlone teams who had achieved the highest scores.

Similarly, the Women's Cricket T10 group matches were held at the TredThai Cricket Grounds, Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok. In the Women's T10 first-day group match between Myanmar and the Philippines, the Myanmar team scored a total of 99 runs in their 10 Overs. The Philippines team, batting in their 10 Overs, only managed to score 59 runs. Consequently, at the end of the match, the Myanmar team defeated the Philippines team by a margin of 40 runs.
