Chinese New Year: Prime Minister attends the ceremony in Yangon

Hailing the Chinese New Year 2023, a closing ceremony of Friendly Basketball Match was held, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year Festival. Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended the ceremony, held at at National Indoor Stadium (1) Thuwunna in Yangon on Saturday.

Chinese Embassy Basketball Team played the friendly matches with Youth Basketball Team and the Myanmar Basketball former players Team. After enjoying the friendly basketball matches, the Prime Minister and wife and attendees proceeded to the site where the Chinese New Year Festival will be opened.

After formal opening of the ceremony, the Prime Minister and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai unveiled the festival by pressing the button. They later enjoyed the performance by the Chinese Traditional Dragon Dance Troupes.

The Prime Minister and party later viewed the Chinese traditional cultural booths and shops, followed by the display of fireworks. At the dinner reception, the Prime Minister and wife took part in Chinese Traditional Eye-Pointing Ceremony.

In his New Year Greetings, the Prime Minister said Myanmar and China are good neighbours, and Myanmar always stands on the One China Policy. He added that China is the strategic partner of Myanmar.

He urged all the Chinese residents in Myanmar, as well as Chinese people in China and all across the world to possess happiness, auspiciousness, prosperity, best of luck and healthy life in the time of auspicious New Year.

The Chinese Ambassador also expressed thanks for the attendance of the State Leader at the ceremony, and wished for further strengthening of bilateral relations and friendship. It was followed by the New Year Wish by the Chairman of Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

The Prime Minister and party later enjoyed the dinner while the Chinese Instrumental Troupe staged with entertainments. Then, the prizes were presented to the winning basketball teams. It was followed by the performance of Chinese traditional dance troupes and artists.
