Chinese government sticks with “zero-COVID” policy

China on Saturday reported about 3,500 new cases the previous day, including about 3,000 who tested positive despite not having any COVID-19 symptoms.

An inspector of China's National Administration of Disease Prevention and Control Mr. Hu Xiang said that recently the number of new positive infections reported on a daily basis across the country fluctuated and increased.

Officials at the news conference said that the government would "unswervingly" stick to the current policy, which seeks to stop cases from coming into the country and snuff out outbreaks as they occur.
