Greece is advancing its electric public transport initiative with the help of a Chinese company, which is exporting electric buses and technical support. Buses are the main transport for many Greeks, but much of the fleet is outdated and lacking basic features, contributing to pollution.

In October 2023, Greece purchased 250 electric buses from the Chinese manufacturer, which are now being introduced into service. The new buses feature advanced technology, including a 24-hour battery monitoring system and air conditioning, designed for the country’s mountainous terrain.

The Chinese company is also training local technicians and plans to provide additional technologies like charging stations, aiming to enhance the presence of Chinese electric vehicles across Europe.
