China reports 3,235 more confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia

Chinese public health authorities announced on Tuesday that 3,235 new confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus were reported in 31 of the 34 provincial-level regions. The National Health Commission said in its daily report that by 24:00 Monday, a total of 425 people died of the disease and 632 people had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

The commission said 2,788 patients were in critical condition and a total of 23,214 people were suspected of being infected with the virus. A total of 221,015 close contacts have been traced down, the commission said. By the end of Monday, 15 confirmed cases had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, eight in the Macao Special Administrative Region and 10 in the Taiwan region.
