China expands gigabit 5G coverage

The number of cities in China with the capability to offer gigabit 5G and optical fiber services has reached 207 so far, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The services cover more than 500 million households, said the ministry.

China’s three major telecommunications operators — China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom — have established 130 fiber optic trunk cables, as part of the country’s overall arrangement that includes national computing hubs. This development has enhanced the interconnectivity efficiency of computing networks in China.
