China completes key magnet test for "artificial sun" project

China has successfully completed technical acceptance and full-condition testing for two domestically developed superconducting magnets destined for its "artificial sun" nuclear fusion projects.

The announcement, made by the Institute of Plasma Physics marks a critical engineering milestone in the global pursuit of commercial, limitless clean energy. Running concurrently, this 582-ton system is the largest superconducting component ever completed for a key fusion reactor system.
